Third Time Not A Charm is a fast paced medium length novel starring in her first role in my books, Josie Du Puy. She is a homicide detective, eventually, in the Phoenix P.D. After finding Josie Du Puy in my mind I could not get enough of her somehow so I wrote Four, Josie D. It is a novel in which Josie, as a full fledged Homicide Detective, seeks to find and eliminate a serial killer. This demented man comes to be known to her while she is working as a detective for the Maricopa County Coroner's Office. She sees a pattern, an anomaly in the deaths of several young women. She seeks information about them, about how they died, about the substance that killed each of them or at least started the process of their being killed, called Fentanyl. Her chase leads her back to Homicide and back to a series of events that will captivate you, make you wonder, create a longing to know more of this woman. 2024 is an apocalyptic novel. The date is its
setting. Its location is the world, then the
area around Missoula, Montana. It posits that
a limited nuclear war occurs, that the exchange
creates a vacuum in the enforcement of law
and the result is the hegemony of militias. In
our time we know of these groups. What we
cannot know is whether given the scenario of
war they would be law breakers, murderers
in fact, in the areas over which they exercise
control. Into this maelstrom is thrown a family
of ex marines, capable in themselves of making
a kind of hell on earth. The explosive result is
a kind of war that we all hope will never occur
but which may be all too predictable.
